The third floor girl's loo in the library is temporarily out of service. This is a reminder that sanitary products are not meant to be flu Please do be more thoughtful when it comes to the plumbing. The pipes are quite old.

Welcome back everyone! For those of you who may not know me, this is Lily Evans, this year's Head Girlalong with Jam. I hope everyone is settling in to this new term nicely, even if it is new and out of the ordinary. I hope everyone's rather short holiday was lovely. I myself spent a regrettably short week by the sea side, and I think, if I had to be completely honest, I might prefer to be back on the beach rather than back in school.

That isn't to say I'm not pleased to be back. I'm probably more pleased than most, though I am a bit at odds with myself. I'm finding myself slightly overwhelmed by the options of advanced courses for this summer. I'm torn between something to further my indented education track, or something simply for pleasure. The head wants one thing, the heart another. Such is life, I suppose.

Congratulations to everyone for putting in great effort today. I think our aching muscles and wet clothes are testaments to the hard work we all put in today. Teambuilding and Cooperation Day never fails to perfectly highlight the strength teamwork brings- Something that seems impossible to complete by one person suddenly becomes a cinch with the minds, hands and/or strength of ones peers.

On that note, I wish everyone a relaxing evening with a cup of tea and some warm clothes.

Mr Filch assures me that there shall be no further complications with the Hogwarts' water heating system. It has been fixed, not only in the main building, but also within the Sporting Center, so all athletes will be able to shower in the locker rooms, as per normal.

I really had a brilliant time at the NPG, regardless of the reckless behaviour of some of our fellow classmates. It's quite geeky, but I really do enjoy museums more, I think, than the average young adult. As the Paris trip gets closer, I find myself getting more and more excited. I may even regress back to a 6 year old, and mark down the days until we leave on my calendar.

It's great to see so many of my peers signed up for the trip to Paris! An epicenter of culture and art, Paris is much more than a place to get pissed every evening. I'm particularly excited to see the Louvre, and though I've heard the Mona Lisa is a bit of a disappointment, I can't wait to come to my own conclusions about it.

A few reminders:
  • Tomorrow afternoon has been designated as the day to sign up for extra curricular clubs and societies. Presidents, feel free to put up notices on the Common Room boards.

  • THURSDAY IS SCHOOL PICTURE DAY. Please be advised that both individual and form pictures will be taken on that day, and proper attire is a must. The schedules for photos are posted in all Common Rooms, in the Great Hall, and in most classrooms. Individual photos will be taken in the Great Hall, and form photos will be taken in the courtyard.

Welcome back everyone! For those of you who may not know me, this is Lily Evans, this year's Head Girl. I hope everyone is settling in to this school year nicely. Activities will soon be picking up, and I especially look forward to seeing all Prefects after tea this Friday in the Prefect's lounge.

Good luck to those who will be trying out for sports teams this weekend! Saturday is interscholastic Swimming trials, in the pool at 9 a.m., and interscholastic Netball trials for girls at noon for girls. On Sunday, trials for boy's interscholastic Rugby and girl's interscholastic Hockey are on Sunday, at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. All this, and all other sports trials schedules are posted on all Common Room coarkboards, in the Gym, and can be found online at http://www.hogwarts.sch.uk/sports.bml.

Year 13s, please keep in mind that sign ups for the upper sixth trip to Paris will be happening come Monday, in Monsieur Tofty's office. It's supposed to be a very exciting trip!

Every trimester the Fund-raising Committee holds a Phone-a-thon to raise funds for the school, and the Spring Phone-a-thon will be coming up just after Easter Holiday! The calling will take place all weekend, the first weekend back, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Shift sign ups will be on the house cork boards. Shifts are 1.5 hours, and sign ups are unlimited. There will be free pizza for call makers, and this counts toward your yearly community service!

Now that that's aside, does anyone know what Anonymous is? The organization, not the word. I read something about their protesting Scientology, and as little as I know about Scientology, I know much less about Anonymous.

In recent years, Hogwarts School has made tremendous strides to diversify their student body, ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically. For this, the administration should be commended. However, economic situations of some of these new students has not been taking into consideration when creating or student schedules. A Hogwarts student is always busy, sports, clubs and academics, all of which are important. However, our schedules leave no opportunity for willing students to pick up and after school job, school sponsored or otherwise.

Jobs inspire work ethic, time management and provide students with their own, hard earned funds, which could possibly be the only spending money they have. By allowing students to take on this additional responsibility, student families would feel less of an economic burden, as well as allowing students to begin to build their resume. If scheduling is a problem, it could easily be rectified by the school providing jobs for students who qualify; What employer to better understand the prioritization of academics?

If you believe this to be an important issue, please sign the petition for school allowed and/or school sponsored jobs outside of the Great Hall at mealtimes. Thank you!
